Matches at SummerSlam 2023
Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar were scheduled to team up at the RAW after WrestleMania but the latter viciously attacked Rhodes before the match could begin. This marked the beginning of a rivalry filled with blood and anger. The two first fought at Backlash, where Rhodes converted Lesnar's kimura lock into a pinfall for the victory. He was not that lucky at Night of Champions. A frustrated Lesnar left no holes in his lock and made Rhodes pass out to the Kimura Lock for the victory.
The two stars are all set to add another chapter to their rivalry at SummerSlam 2023.
Seth 'Freakin' Rollins vs. Finn Balor
Seth 'Freakin' Rollins defeated Finn Balor on Monday Night RAW in May in the semi-finals of the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion tournament. Rollins eventually won the tournament at Night of Champions and also defended the gold against Balor at Money in the Bank in a winning effort. Balor did not back out of the competition and demanded another title match, which he will get at SummerSlam 2023.
Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre
Gunther retained his Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39 by pinning Drew McIntyre. The latter went on a hiatus following the loss and returned just in time for SummerSlam and challenged Gunther for the gold. The champion accepted and now the two titans are all set to lock horns for the belt.
Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler
The former tag team champions went berserk on each other after Shayna Baszler turned her back on Ronda Rousey during their title defense against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
Baszler attacked Rousey in the match where the two lost their titles. This prompted a feud between the two, due to be settled at SummerSlam.
Asuka vs. Charlotte vs. Bianca Belair
Asuka defeated Bianca Belair at Night of Champions 2023 to end her year long RAW Women's Championship run. The title was subsequently renamed WWE Women's Championship and was drafted to SmackDown.
Up until a few months ago, Charlotte Flair was the top champion of the SmackDown brand before she lost the title at WrestleMania to Ripley and went on a hiatus. She returned before SummerSlam for the title opportunity and got one against Asuka. However, Bianca Belair was also added to the match making it a deadly triple threat contest.
Ricochet vs. Logan Paul
Ricochet and Logan Paul were involved in two huge wrestling collisions - first at Royal Rumble 2023 and then at Money in the Bank. However, the things got heated after their second interaction eventually leading to a singles showdown at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
SlimJim Battle Royal
20-Men are scheduled to partake in a over-the-top-rope Battle Royal at SummerSlam 2023 as confirmed on July 28 episode of SmackDown.
Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso
The two cousins had been working together for more than two years before things could no longer work out. Jimmy Uso was kicked out of the Bloodline by Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa for speaking too much and Jey was given the chance to join Reigns.
However, Jey chose his brother and superkicked Reigns to let the world know his intentions. The two teams faced off at Money in the Bank where not only did The Usos win the match, but they did so by pinning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. All this skirmish has led to an epic showdown between Reigns and Jey Uso for the championship and for the title of the Tribal Chief.
