Roman Reigns' father and WWE Hall of Famer Sika Anoa'i passed away on June 25th, 2024 at the age of 79. He was popularly known as one-half of the tag team 'The Wild Samoans' with his brother, Afa Anoaʻi. As a tag team, they worked in various promotions as well as World Wrestling Federation (WWF, renamed to WWE) and held a record of 21 championships across the companies. In WWE, The Wild Samoans are former three-time World Tag Team Champions.

The Wild Samoans made their WWE debut in January 1980 and became the World Tag Team Champions on April 12 of the same year when they defeated Ivan Putski and Tito Santana. Their first run as Tag Team Champions lasted almost four months before they dropped the titles to Bob Backlund and Pedro Morales on August 9th, 1980. Their second reign began just a month later and ended in November, before they departed the company in December. The Wild Samoans returned in January 1983 and began their final title reign in March 1983, with it ending in November of that year.

The brothers once again left the company in early 1985 before Sika Anoa'i returned to WWE in 1986 and worked with the Stamford-based promotion until 1988. His final appearance in WWE came at Roman Reigns' match "I Quit" match against Jey Uso at Hell in a Cell 2020. Afa and Sika Anoa'i crowned The Tribal Chief with the Ula Fala after his victory against Jey Uso.

WWE had plans of bringing The Wild Samoans and Rikishi, along with other members of the family, to the episode of RAW's 30th anniversary. However, the plans were nixed since Afa and Sika Anoa'i were not ready to make the trip and Rikishi was sick during the week.

Roman Reigns shared heartwarming tribute for Sika Anoa'i

The Tribal Chief is currently on a hiatus from WWE TV and could be set to return in the coming weeks. However, he might need some more time before making a comeback to spend time with his loved ones following the passing of his father. He took to social media to give him an emotional tribute.

"My family and I thank everyone for the outpouring of support in the name of my father, Pola'ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, who will forever be remembered as one half of The Wild Samoans tag team. My father had a profound impact on my entire family and we are forever grateful for the foundation he built for us. There’s no way to fill the void left by his passing but my sisters and I will do our best to represent him and his legacy. Rest in Power, Dad. We love you."

Jey Uso along with other family members have taken to social media to pay their tribute to the Late Sika Anoa'i.
