It's no secret that Rikishi has a close relationship with his family, especially his sons who are currently involved in The Bloodline saga in WWE. However, there was a point in time when not everything was going smoothly for them.
The April 20, 2014 episode of Total Divas followed Trinity and Jonathan Fatu's (Naomi and Jimmy Uso in WWE, respectively), decision to finally hold a small wedding after being engaged for a couple of years. Although Jimmy agreed to get married, he said he wanted to invite his brothers and mother but not his father, Rikishi, as they weren't on the same page at the time. During that year's Old School RAW special, the former SmackDown Women's Champion convinced her partner to talk with his father.
Eventually, Jimmy managed to summon up the courage and asked his father to attend his wedding the following week. Naomi followed it up by saying she understood what was going on between Jon and his father, but she wouldn't feel comfortable having a wedding without the Hall of Famer's approval.

Rikishi cried at the mention of his son getting married and stated that he was happy and proud of the couple.
The former SmackDown Women's Champion shared that although they hadn't spent much time together at that point, she wanted him to attend the wedding, and she knew it would mean the world to Jimmy if that happened.
The Hall of Famer agreed to attend the wedding and even joked he would buy a new suit.
What happened to Rikishi during the wedding of the WWE couple?
In that same episode, the wedding of Naomi and Jimmy Uso was shared. It took place in Hawaii at a resort surrounded by their loved ones, unfortunately, the Hall of Famer was not among them.
The night before the wedding, Jimmy revealed that his father wouldn't be able to attend the wedding as he had a "last minute appearance" booked for that day. Instead, Jey did his best to console and comfort his brother in their father's absence.
Unsurprisingly, many fans who watched the show and episode didn't have the best things to say about the Hall of Famer for missing the wedding of his own son. However, Rikishi posted on his X account that storylines of reality TV mirror wrestling and that there was little reality in reality TV, insinuating that what happened in the episode wasn't the complete truth.
Fortunately, Jimmy and his father have since seemingly made up with the latter supporting The Usos, Solo Sikoa, and the rest of The Bloodline in their time in WWE.
