Sad news broke earlier today that legendary professional wrestler and father of WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, Sika Anoa’i, passed away at the age of 79. Sika's nephew, Jahrus Anoa’i, took to Instagram to inform the world about his demise.
Sika made a name for himself in the world of professional wrestling as one half of one of the most legendary tag teams in history, The Wild Samoans, alongside Afa Anoa’i. The duo's fearsome presence and unhinged style made them massive stars in the '70s and '80s.
The Wild Samoans even had several runs in WWF, where they were three-time WWF Tag Team Champions. In 2007, Sika and Afa were inducted into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Sika's last appearance on WWE television was during the 2020 Hell in a Cell premium live event. After Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso to retain his Universal Championship, Sika and Afa Anoa’i came out to greet him on the stage and put a lei around his neck, embracing him as the head of the family. This moment officially marked Reigns' ascension as The Head of the Table.
WWE Superstar Roman Reigns recently talked about his father's advice to him
Roman Reigns was born into the legendary Anoa'i family, and professional wrestling is in his veins. He has become one of the biggest stars in WWE history, ensuring the Anoa'i family's rich legacy continues.
In the recently released A&E Biography of Roman Reigns, The Tribal Chief talked about the advice his father Sika gave him from the beginning. Sika emphasized that the most important aspect of the professional wrestling business was drawing money, something that Reigns has successfully achieved over the past few years.
"From the very beginning my dad always taught me that when you come around this ring, it's only about money. It's only about drawing money," Reigns said.
Reigns is currently out of action but is expected to return very soon. Team Sportskeeda extends its condolences to Sika Anoa'i's family, friends, and fans.
