The recent episode of WWE RAW featured a noteworthy development ahead of the upcoming premium live event, Bad Blood 2024. During the show, Adam Pearce confirmed a major Hell in a Cell match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk for the event. In addition, WWE made a major announcement, disclosing that RAW would return to a two-hour format.
This change will take effect starting Monday, October 7, 2024, and continue through the last episode of the year in December. This means that the first RAW after the Bad Blood PLE will be the first two-hour episode of the red brand in over a decade.
The news was revealed through WWE's official social media platforms during RAW. It was also confirmed that December 30, 2024, would mark not only the final WWE RAW of the year but also the final episode to air on the USA Network.

The last time WWE changed RAW's format was in 2012 when it expanded to three hours following the 1000th episode. Meanwhile, SmackDown will continue with its regular two-hour format with no changes announced.
It will be intriguing to see how Triple H books a two-hour WWE RAW starting in October, as well as the remaining three-hour episodes that will unfold as we approach Bad Blood 2024.
Will WWE RAW have a two-hour show on Netflix in 2025?
After this major announcement, one of the biggest questions that has come up is whether WWE will continue with the two-hour format on Netflix when Monday Night RAW moves there in 2025. For those unaware, RAW is set to transition to Netflix, with the inaugural episode on the streaming platform scheduled for January 6, 2025.
While WWE has confirmed that the final USA Network episode of RAW will be two hours long, sources suggest that when the show moves to Netflix, it will revert to the three-hour format.
According to Dave Meltzer, the decision to shorten RAW to two hours on the USA Network was not made by WWE, but by the network itself. This implies that WWE still intends for RAW to be a three-hour show, and when it transitions to Netflix in 2025, the longer format is expected to return.
"It's a three-hour show when they move back to Netflix. Yeah, I had it confirmed a few minutes ago. The basic situation is that it was a USA Network call, not a WWE call. I am not sure why. It will boost the ratings of the show because they won't have that third hour that drags down the average but I'm not sure exactly why USA made the call."
However, it's important to note that no official announcement has been made regarding the format for WWE RAW on Netflix, and fans will have to wait for confirmation.
