The Superstar Shakeup has given us a lot of excitement this week. Music would hit and the crowd would erupt at the sight of their favorite superstar switching brands or on being called up to the main roster, but one of the most exciting announcements didn't take place in the ring, as it was revealed that Sanity would be moving up to Smackdown.
Though this call-up is a great move for the faction, the graphic only showed pictures of the Men of Sanity, which begs the question, "Where is Nikki Cross?" Often regarded as one of the more popular members of Sanity, is she being saved for a bigger reveal or does WWE have other plans in mind for Nikki. Follow along as we look at some of her options!
#1 Is she a surprise entrant Smackdown?
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The simplest answer is that she is waiting to debut. Maybe the idea is to have Sanity debut as a three-man team and face off against the New Day, the Shield, or sloppily arranged three-man teams (let's admit it, they throw three baby faces together constantly).
So maybe the idea is to have them start a rivalry with another group and come to a Stalemate only for Nikki Cross to return and tip the scales in the favor of Chaos. This would also give her the opportunity to go against Carmella, the IIconics (who she has worked with many times), Asuka (another favorite of hers, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and more!)
#2 Moving up on her own on Raw!
There is a lot of good talent on Raw right now, many of which she has already faced. She's toyed with the idea of tagging with Ruby Riott, and torn the house down with Ember Moon.
Personally, I think it's a waste to split her up from Sanity so this is my LEAST favorite option. With that said, her going straight to the "main show" would be a testament to what the officials see in her.
The audience loves her, as she embodies the Chaos of Sanity in a way that feels more authentic than any of the other members. Maybe Triple H sees something in her the way he saw something in Carmella. Originally he separated Carmella from Enzo and Cass so that she could grow into her own character and not just be limited to being their valet. Will we see a solo push in Nikki's future?
#3 She's staying in NXT building her brand
We have watched her scratch for glory at NXT only to come up short time and time again. With a fresh roster of talent in NXT and Shayna Baszler holding the belt we could still see Nikki get into some fresh Rivalries and possibly even get the gold! There aren't many veterans around in NXT's women's scene right now, and Nikki Cross has proven to us that she can put on an entertaining match even if you put her against Aliyah.
Her primal nature would be a great contrast against Kairi Sane, She would be a natural heel against Candice LaRae, and she's already been working the house shows with Vannessa Borne, Dakota Kai, and Bianca Bel Air. The WWE also announced that there would be a sequel to the Mae Young Classic, could we see a Heel take the trophy after Kairi Sane took gold last year?
NXT tends to gel really well with Heels that have a Heavy Metal edge to them, and Nikki Cross is one of the wildest and most authentic women on the roster. Her kind of crazy looks great on NXT, and I'm afraid that poor writing on Smackdown would limit the realness. I think back to the "interview" segment where she sat there laughing and saying "Ruby...Ruby Riott?" over and over. She seemed legitimately insane, and we all loved it.
