Initially Hangman Page was supposed to face PAC (formerly known as Neville at WWE). However, due to creative differences between management and Pac, the match was cancelled merely a few days before Double Or Nothing. For storyline purposes, it was portrayed that 'Hangman' Page would not be able to compete at the event due to an injury.

It was announced that the two contenders for the AEW World Championship would be determined through two matches scheduled for Double Or Nothing. The first contender would be the winner of the Casino Battle Royale and the second would be the winner of the match between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho.

The main event bout between Omega and Jericho was won by Jericho as he avenged the loss he suffered at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 12. The Casino Battle Royale was won by 'Hangman' Adam Page, as he turned out to be final entrant of the match. No further details of the AEW World Championship match have been revealed just yet.
