Who are WWE's next stars in 2013?

Now that Wrestlemania is behind us for the year, this is the time when WWE basically begins a “new season”, starts building new angles and creating new stars. While current stars on the roster look to get new pushes and storylines, there are many wrestlers waiting in the wings for their big break, and it’s likely a few of them will get that over the next couple of months. So, which wrestlers in WWE’s developmental system, NXT, are the most likely candidates this year? Let’s take a look at a few of the new faces who could (and should) be appearing this year.

Kassius Ohno: Right off the bat, Ohno comes to mind. In fact, why he hasn’t gotten the call-up to the main roster yet is beyond me. Ohno is probably more ready than anyone else in NXT, and I can already think of at least two things that could be done with him right away. First off, a reunion with former partner Antonio Cesaro could be a great way to go for both men. Cesaro has been floundering recently and a reformation of “The Kings of Wrestling” could be the shot in the arm his career needs. The second possibility for Ohno would be the fourth member of The Shield. I’ve always said that factions should never go more than four members (not counting managers/valets), and Ohno would be a perfect fit in the group, especially when you consider how much history he has with both Ambrose and Rollins on the independent circuit.

Adrian Neville: Although he has not been in developmental for long, Neville has got all of the tools, and is considered one of the top high flyers in the world, capable of moves the average fan has never even seen. The matches he could put on with fellow flyers such as Kofi Kingston, Sin Cara and more could be unbelievable, and could go a long way in convincing WWE that maybe resurrecting the cruiserweight division is not a bad idea at all.

Sami Zayn: The former El Generico is already expected to debut at some point this year, as there was never a long-term plan to keep him in developmental for a significant amount of time. Much like fellow ROH alumnus Kassius Ohno, Zayn was widely considered one of the best all-around stars on the independent circuit prior to his signing, and was a major coup for WWE when they got a hold of him. And, much like Neville, he would be great in moving forward with a cruiserweight division, as he can fly with the best of them, and has a great mat game.

Bray Wyatt: Since leaving WWE TV after a stint as Husky Harris, Wyatt has completely transformed his character into a cross between Brother Love and Waylon Mercy, and he’s excellent in the role. In addition to this, he’s got a very unique look and is unbelievably fast for a super-heavyweight. Wyatt could definitely add something very fresh to the “big man” scene in WWE, and has the potential to be a main event-er if given the proper forum.
