Legado Del Fantasma's leader, Santos Escobar

On SmackDown, the Legado Del Fantasma has received all the heat after its founder, Santos Escobar turned on Rey Mysterio. However, this heat from the WWE Universe has also led to many wanting to know more about the history of this faction and other details.

To answer the same, the Legado Del Fantasma is a faction formed by Santos Escobar. In June 2020, Escobar beat Drake Maverick to become the interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion. This victory by Escobar was possible due to outside interference from Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro.

Initially, the faction was managed by Elektra Lopez. However, when the Legado Del Fantasma moved to SmackDown, Zelina Vega took over the role of the faction's manager. On SmackDown, Escobar and his stable quickly partnered up with wrestling legend Rey Mysterio.

This led to Mysterio inviting the Legado Del Fantasma to join his newly reformed Latino World Order. Santos Escobar quickly accepted this invitation, and the LWO shared a great relationship until Escobar turned his back on Rey Mysterio after Crown Jewel in 2023.

This led to the 39-year-old leaving the Latino World Order and forming a new faction with Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo. It will be interesting to see what the trio achieves on SmackDown.

Santos Escobar once revealed how Legado Del Fantasma came into fruition

If there is any WWE Superstar who knows a thing or two about factions, it has to be Triple H. Over the years, The Game has been part of top factions like D-Generation X and Evolution. This is the reason why The Game was able to guide Santos Escobar on the right path.

During an Out of Character podcast appearance, Escobar revealed that he initially desired to bring back the Latino World Order. However, a conversation with Triple H led to the formation of Legado Del Fantasma instead.

"So the very first conversation I had with Triple H, he asked me, 'What do you want to do?' I told him, 'Can I bring back the LWO?', and before I said the letter O, He said, 'No. I want you to be you and I want people to see you and not think of anybody else. I want you to think of something. You want a group? We can do a group, but write something down, think about it, give it to me, and we'll see."

Escobar added:

"So that kind of shut down my initial desire, but Triple H was right. The time wasn't right. It wouldn't have been what it is right now and also, it needed a very important ingredient, an OG, an original LWO and that's Rey. That's why Legado came about and it was beautiful."
