Money in the Bank briefcase is the award given to the winner of the annual Money in the Bank ladder match at the eponymous pay-per-view event. The briefcase contains a contract that grants its owner an opportunity to cash in the contract and get a world title match at any time. Introduced by Chris Jericho, the match was first contested in 2005 where Edge reigned supreme. In 2010, a separate PPV began for the match, and in 2017, Women’s Money in the Bank was also introduced. Since 2022, the Money in the Bank can also be cashed in on titles other than the world title.
The briefcase is valid for a period of one year from winning it. If a superstar fails to cash in his contract within this period, then his contract becomes invalid and the latest winner of the ladder match will be awarded a new and valid contract. While no such case has occurred thus far, there have been situations very close to that.
Longest Time To Cash In Money in the Bank

Carmella cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase 287 days after winning it. This is the longest time taken by any wrestler, male or female. She is the only star to win the contract on SmackDown, as she won it on the June 27 episode of SmackDown Live. Months later, even after the WrestleMania, she cashed in her contract on the April 10 episode of SmackDown against Charlotte Flair.
Speaking of male wrestlers, Damian Priest held his briefcase for 281 days. He won the contract at Money in the Bank 2023 and after many failed attempts to cash in, Priest finally succeeded at WrestleMania XL, becoming only the second wrestler after Seth Rollins to cash in at WrestleMania. Further, Otis held the briefcase for 193 days, which is the longest for anyone who failed to win a title after becoming Mr. Money in the Bank.
