Who has won Money in the Bank twice?

Money in the Bank is one of the most desired holdings in all of professional wrestling. It is a briefcase that allows its owner to get a world title match at any time they deem fit. The winner gets a contract which is valid for a period of one year and, during that duration, he continues to haunt the world champion of both brands. Winning the briefcase once is a task easier said than done. However, there are a few wrestlers who have managed to grab that contract twice.

Two-Time Money in the Bank Winners

So far, only Edge, CM Punk, and The Miz have won the Money in the Bank briefcase twice. Technically, Carmella also fits in the category but she cashed in only one of the briefcase won. Further CM Punk and Carmella are the only two superstars to win the Money in the Bank ladder match twice.

Edge (2005 and 2007)

Money in the Bank briefcase was first introduced in 2005 and the first person to get their hands on the briefcase was Edge. The Rated-R Superstar held the contract for a duration of 280 days before finally cashing it on John Cena to become the WWE Champion.

Just over a year later, Mr. Kennedy won the 2007 Money in the Bank ladder match. In May 2007, Edge got himself a match against Kennedy for the briefcase and became the first person to win the contract without winning the ladder match. He also became the first superstar ever to hold the contract twice. He eliminated the risk of losing the contract again by cashing it in just one night later on The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. Impressively, Edge is the only superstar to win the Money in the Bank, Royal Rumble, and Elimination Chamber match more than once besides being a Grand Slam Champion as well.

CM Punk (2008 and 2009)

CM Punk won the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2008 and held the briefcase for three months. He cashed it on the master of cash-in, Edge to become the World Heavyweight Champion. The Second City Saint went on to repeat this feat the next year and again won the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania XXV.

This made him the first superstar to win the Money in the Bank briefcase in consecutive years and also the first to win the MITB ladder match more than once. He would wait two months before cashing in on Jeff Hardy, ending his dream first title reign within five minutes.

The Miz (2010 and 2020)

In a match that involved titans like Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, and Edge, The Miz managed to win the briefcase in 2010. Holding it for more than four months, he finally cashed it on Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. While the champion had regained enough consciousness to fight back, The Miz eventually defeated Randy Orton to become the champion.

A decade later, Otis was Mr. Money in the Bank when The Miz took him to the court of JBL to get a match for the briefcase. Thanks to some under-the-table cash, JBL gave a decision in favor of The Miz, who would then go on to defeat Otis for the briefcase. He cashed it on Drew McIntyre to become the WWE Champion for a second time. Interestingly, he has won the world title twice, and both after a Money in the Bank cash-in.

Honorable Mention - Carmella

Carmella is also technically a two-time Ms. Money in the Bank. The match was introduced for the female stars for the first time in 2017. James Ellsworth reached the top of the ladder and retrieved the briefcase. He then gave it to Carmella, who was announced the winner of the match as she was the first competitor of the match to get their hand on the contract.

However, due to this controversial finish, she was forced to give her briefcase back and a rematch for the same was scheduled. In that match, with the help of a banned Ellsworth, Carmella would go on to win the ladder match for the second time. She eventually cashed it on Charlotte Flair after 287 days, the longest anyone has waited before cashing in.
