Who are the members of Chase University? Meet the new NXT Tag Team Champions

Chase University accomplished a major milestone at Halloween Havoc. Andre Chase and Duke Hudson defeated The Family (Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) for the NXT Tag Team Championship at the television special event.

For those who aren’t familiar with Chase U, the faction comprises Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, and Thea Hail. Former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion and Jacy Jayne isn’t an official member of the group, though she’s been managing Hail for quite some time now.

Former NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate served as an honorary member and flag carrier before WWE put him in a storyline with Noam Dar and Nathan Frazer that involved the trio butting heads over the NXT Heritage Cup.

Chase University used to have other members besides Mr. Chase, Duke Hudson, and Thea Hail. Bodhi Hayward was the flag carrier of Chase U before WWE released him as part of NXT budget cuts on November 1, 2022.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Hayward was injury-prone and no-showed multiple NXT shows before being let go by WWE. He also had alleged backstage heat that stemmed from his temperament on the developmental brand.

WWE also released Damaris Griffin, Ru Feng, Sloane Jacobs, and Erica Yan from their contracts as part of the budget cuts. The performers served a 30-day no-compete clause before becoming free agents on December 1, 2022.

Chase University won the NXT Tag Team Championship at Halloween Havoc Night 1. Duke Hudson and Andre Chase ended Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lonrenzo’s title run in a fast-paced contest.

Backstage, Chase U had their celebration interrupted by WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green and Piper Niven (dressed as Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, respectively). Chelsea tried to berate the winners but was stopped in her attempt by Jacy Jayne.

The former Toxic Attraction member challenged Green and Niven to put their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the line against her and Thea Hail. It remains to be seen if the match will happen at Halloween Havoc Night 2.
