The tag team from Detroit became free agents a few months ago after their time with TNA Wrestling was over. They had talks with AEW, but it appears that they will eventually end up signing with WWE. The tandem made its debut in 2006 and performed in the Nashville-based company till 2012.

After a nearly four-year break, they made their return and appeared in various wrestling promotions, including Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and DPW. Shelley and Sabin are considered among the top tag teams in the wrestling business and have won multiple championships. They have held tag team gold twice in NJPW, once in ROH, and three times in TNA (fka IMPACT).

In singles competition, Chris Sabin has been champion 11 times in TNA Wrestling, while Alex Shelley is a two-time champion.

The Motor City Machine Guns are set to join WWE, and, according to a report by PW Nexus, they could make their debut on NXT as early as Tuesday, October 1st, when the white-and-gold show will present its season premiere on The CW Network.

There are no plans at the moment for the tandem to move to the main roster. Instead, they are expected to have a run in NXT's tag team division.

The tag team division in NXT is quite stacked at the moment, and the Stamford-based company is seemingly looking to strengthen it by adding Shelley and Sabin.
