The wrestling world is buzzing with reports about Nick Aldis’ latest status with WWE. PWInsider reported before SmackDown that the 36-year-old star could debut as an authority figure on the blue brand during its season premiere.
For those unaware, Aldis is a 20-year veteran of the squared circle. He’s worked in promotions worldwide, but the highlight of his career was holding the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship for 1,043 days.
During his title as the NWA Worlds Champion, Nick Aldis restored the prestige of the “10 Pounds of Gold” by carrying it with class and putting on stellar defenses against Colt Cabana, Flip Gordon, and James Strom, among others.

His first run with the title was halted by Cody Rhodes, who defeated him at All In on September 1, 2018. He would regain the championship at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show on October 21, 2018.
Before joining NWA, Aldis had a seven-year stint in IMPACT Wrestling (formerly TNA), where he was their world champion on one occasion. The former Magnus also sent AJ Styles and Sting packing from the promotion.
When did Nick Aldis sign with WWE?
At the time of the writing, Nick Aldis hasn’t signed a deal with WWE, per se. He previously reported that he worked with the company on a handshake deal. The former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion reportedly was brought to the August 7, 2023, episode of RAW to work as a backstage producer.
It remains to be seen if Aldis will make his WWE on-screen debut, as reported, on the season premiere of SmackDown tonight. It is possible he could be revealed as the new authority figure during Triple H’s segment on the show.
