Breakout Star of the Year: Ricochet
When it was announced that Ricochet has signed a contract with WWE, fans all over the world were excited. Ricochet has definitely lived up to the hype. He possibly had one of the best debut matches in WWE history in the ladder match to determine who will be the first-ever NXT North American Champion.

He was a critical part of that match as he hit several high impact moves including a springboard shooting star press to the outside to start the match, a moonsault plancha while falling off of a ladder, and a diving shooting star press onto a ladder. He then entered into one of the best rivalries of the year with the Velveteen Dream and defeated him. After moving on from that feud, the One and Only would capture the NXT North American Championship from Adam Cole and then successfully defended his title against the likes of Pete Dunne, Adam Cole, and Tyler Breeze.

Ricochet would also be one of the standout performers of this year's War Games match as he hit a Double Moonsault off of the top of the cage. Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley can both go down as honourable mentions but the only superstar that deserves to be called 2018's breakout star is Ricochet.
