It appears that one of the top female wrestlers around, Stephanie Vaquer, is indeed heading to WWE. While multiple wrestling outlets have reported this since yesterday, Vaquer is all set to become the next NXT female star after Shawn Micheals welcomed the star to WWE.
The 31-year-old female wrestler has had an impressive career that started way back in February 2009. She has won multiple titles in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, which led to her moving to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).
She became the women's champion in NJPW, which led to a feud with former WWE and now AEW megastar Mercedes Mone at the AEW Forbidden Door Pay-Per-View a couple of weeks ago.
In a champion vs. champion match, which was highly acclaimed by wrestling insiders and fans, Vaquer put forth a great exhibition of her potential. It appears that this was her last appearance with CMLL and NJPW and she is now heading to WWE.
Stephanie Vaquer leaves CMLL; Shawn Michaels welcomes her to WWE
Stephanie Vaquer has announced her departure from CMLL and NJPW and she is now heading to WWE. The 31-year-old female wrestler cited personal reasons for leaving the promotion, while vacating the Women's World Championship in CMLL.
"At this moment, I stop belonging to the ranks of CMLL and NJPW. To clarify, I AM LEAVING THROUGH THE BIG DOOR, forever grateful to the WORLD WRESTLING COUNCIL AND NEW JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING, and in the best terms. From today, I vacate the CMLL World Women's Championship as well as the CMLL World Women's Tag Championship... For obvious reasons, I will not be present at the next shows and I hope you can understand that the terms between companies are what lead to this statement," she posted on X.
Meanwhile, WWE legend and NXT boss Shawn Michaels took to social media and confirmed that Stephanie Vaquer had moved to WWE.
It is still unclear when she will make her debut, but fans can expect her to go after NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez.
