CM Punk confronted The Rock this past week on RAW and this was something that was anticipated for more than a year. The segment gave us some of the most entertaining moments that lived up to every fan’s expectation. However, if the rumours are true, Punk is certain to lose his title this Royal Rumble leaving the title picture open for the likes of Cena which means that there is a possibility of Cena vs Rock for the second time in a lifetime at Wrestlemania 29. This leaves Punk without a credible contender.
So who should Punk possibly face? The answer to this is Stone Cold Steve Austin. We all saw what Punk can do against a legend of the stature of The Rock and imagine the same intensity against Stone Cold. Quite a few times we have seen Punk and the Rattlesnake at loggerheads outside and this can be just the right platform for them to start a feud.
There are several reasons why Punk vs Stone Cold is a must happen match at Wrestlemania. Firstly it is the pride. Fans that have seen both these wrestlers in the ring will know quite clearly of the pride that both these wrestlers have about being the best in business. This pride can trigger a great feud between both the two.

Next it is the differences in both their characters. While Stone Cold is a beer drinking, hell raising, baddest SOB in business, Punk is a straight edge superstar that believes in a sober lifestyle completely contradictory to Steve Austin. This difference again can exploit a great deal of animosity between the two even if it is inside the ring.
Third it is their ability to deliver promos. It is quite clear that Punk is brilliant with the mic. In fact, there isn’t another wrestler who could match his mic skills in today’s WWE roster. Steve Austin too has shown us similar skills and his blatant outbursts on the mic will simply be a treat to watch again. This will make their feud all the more interesting.
But the biggest question that remains is whether Stone Cold Steve Austin has it in him for another match. We all know the neck injury that forced him to leave WWE and this injury I guess is the main reason why we haven’t seen Steve Austin yet.
Hopefully we get to see Austin soon in the ring and announce his feud against Punk in the following weeks to come.
