Cody Rhodes has gone from being a star with failed potential a few years ago to arguably the biggest superstar in WWE today. A critical moment in this turnaround was his decision to leave WWE and rebrand himself as "The American Nightmare," a move that has undeniably brought him great success.

In a recent interview with BBC, Rhodes was asked about the origin of his nickname. He explained that his legendary father, Dusty Rhodes, was famously known as the "American Dream." So, when Cody began wrestling in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, they wanted to create a connection to his father’s legacy and dubbed him The American Nightmare, as he was playing a heel character at the time.

"Oh gosh! Well, my father, he was 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes. When I first went over and wrestled in New Japan (NJPW), they just wanted to make that connection. And at that time, I was a bad guy. So they thought 'American Nightmare.' And somehow, someway, now I am just a real plucky, good guy, just keeping the Nightmare name," Rhodes said. [2:28 - 2:45]

Despite now being WWE’s top babyface, Rhodes has continued to use the moniker "The American Nightmare" and has formed an indubitable connection with the fans that only seems to grow with time.

Cody Rhodes recently talked about the possibility of WWE hosting Wrestlemania in UK

Following the recent success of AEW at Wembley Stadium, fans in the United Kingdom have been eagerly advocating for a massive WWE event to take place in the country, with some even suggesting the possibility of hosting WrestleMania.

In a recent interview, Cody Rhodes discussed the prospects of bringing WWE’s biggest event to the UK. He expressed excitement at the idea, stating it would be really cool if WrestleMania were to be held in the UK within the next five years. Rhodes also noted that there are several large venues in the country, such as in London or Manchester, that could serve as ideal locations.

"If I’m aiming, it would be cool to get it [in the UK] in the next five years. There’s some really big venues over here that could host a WrestleMania. I think American fans would jump at the chance to come to a WrestleMania [overseas], whether that that be in Manchester or London, I think they’d go nuts for it," Rhodes said.

WWE has reportedly already been in discussions with the Mayor of London about hosting a major event in the city. It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming years.
