It has been years since Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes were part of WWE. But with the American Nightmare now thriving in the Stamford-based company and being the Undisputed WWE Champion, there was speculation that he would reunite with his brother.
However, this is no longer the case. Dustin Rhodes took to his account on X and announced that he had re-signed with AEW. He also revealed that this would be his last contract and that he would then retire.
"Today I have signed a new multi yr contract with AEW. I want to thank my boss Tony Khan for every opportunity he has given me. Since coming here and being an original since inception, I have truly had the time of my life... I will finish my career here at AEW as I feel it is home to me. I have never felt respected and wanted like I have here... I feel loved and wanted here. I love all of our roster deeply," Dustin Rhodes posted on his account.
Dustin Rhodes and Cody Rhodes spent a few years together in AEW after their WWE departure (2019-2022). Since it is unlikely that any of the two will leave his current workplace, they will unlikely reunite anytime soon.
Cody Rhodes believes Dustin Rhodes could become a WWE Hall of Famer
Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes had to play different characters during their stints with WWE several years ago. One of them was Goldust, who allowed Dustin Rhodes to become a champion in WWE (Intercontinental Champion) and WCW (United States Champion), respectively.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, the American Nightmare explained why Goldust could make it to the WWE Hall of Fame.
"Knowing how much he had subverted expectations, knowing how much he didn’t just want to be a Rhodes. He wanted to be his own thing and what he did in the lengths he went to to do it, I was very proud of Dustin throughout that whole run. Goldust is an underrated part of the Attitude Era, certainly somebody I think worthy of the Hall of Fame," Cody Rhodes said. [h/t Sports Illustrated]
Even though Dustin Rhodes/Goldust might have a chance to become a Hall of Famer, it could take years before he is inducted, as he is still an active wrestler.
