Reports indicate that WWE were keen on using Bully Ray back in May at the NXT live event in Philadelphia, but an appearance he made for TNA caused the WWE officials to change their mind.
Because the event was to be held in Philadelphia, WWE were sure of the big pop that would have come Ray’s way but the role instead went to Tommy Dreamer who lost to Baron Corbin that night. WWE chose not to pursue Bully Ray after he appeared on the May 8th TNA IMPACT wrestling episode to special referee a world title match between Kurt Angle and Eric Young. It is to be noted that Dreamer too has been working backstage and on TV for TNA.
Bully recently returned to TNA as an on-air authority figure, however report say he is still hoping for another run in the WWE. This past weekend, Fight Network reported Bully talked about another run in the WWE, claiming he and Devon are in the best shape they have been in over 15 years.
