Why did Drew McIntyre attack Sami Zayn on WWE RAW? Exploring potential reason

This week's WWE RAW ended with Drew McIntyre returning and attacking Sami Zayn. While the reason for the attack on Zayn remains unclear, it's most likely tied to the recent reunion of The Honorary Uce with Roman Reigns.

At the 2024 Survivor Series: WarGames, the OG Bloodline reunited and defeated the New Bloodline led by Solo Sikoa. On this week's WWE RAW episode, Seth Rollins expressed his displeasure at seeing Roman Reigns and CM Punk teaming up. The Visionary and Sami Zayn then had a heated confrontation which led to a singles match in the main event.

Seth defeated Sami, and to add insult to injury, the latter was on the receiving end of a Claymore Kick from McIntyre, possibly the same thing Jey Uso had to go through backstage. Due to Zayn's recent partnership with Reigns, Drew's actions may be driven by his own history with the group.

As many may remember, the OG Bloodline took away Drew's chance of becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion during the 2022 Clash at the Castle when he faced Roman Reigns in front of his home fans. Sami siding with Jey and the rest of the OG Bloodline could have irritated McIntyre and he could have even viewed Zayn as a hypocrite.

On the other hand, the likely reason Drew McIntyre didn't target Seth was because the latter stayed true to his word of not siding with Roman Reigns under any circumstances, which may have even earned The Scottish Warrior's respect.

Should Drew McIntyre squash Sami Zayn for their eventual rivalry on WWE RAW?

Drew hasn't been on WWE television since his gruesome Hell in a Cell match with CM Punk at Bad Blood 2024. However, his return and attack only indicate that the missed time didn't make him weak in any way. As per Vince Russo, the Stamford-based promotion should keep booking him in that way.

On the recent Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, the wrestling veteran noted that Drew should come out on top in his eventual feud with Sami and should be booked as a "killer."

"I am just gonna say. Like, I swear, if they come back next week or two weeks from now, whatever, and it’s Drew and Sami Zayn, and it’s 50-50. Come on, guys, Drew should come back, killing people. Killing people!"

It will be interesting what happens next in Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn's feud on WWE RAW.
