Why is Titus O'Neil not a bigger star?

Batista is a big fan of Titus O’Neil

He is 6’6, 270 pounds – the ideal dimensions to join Vince McMahon’s supposed ‘Big guy’ club. Even former WWE Champion Batista expressed his frustrations at O'Neil not getting a steady push in the company.

Batista's opinion makes It look like O'Neil is going to join John Morrison, Carlito and Dolph Ziggler in the 'buried talents' section of the WWE soon enough.

So why exactly is Prime Time Player Titus O’Neil not being pushed more in the WWE?

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

The answer, quite frankly, is because he is just not good enough yet.

Sorry Dave, O'Neil cannot even be put in the same class as the threesome mentioned above - Morrison had the best moveset in the WWE throughout his singles career, Carlito's flamboyance was infectious and Dolph Ziggler is still the best damn worker in the WWE today.

As for O'Neil, he is neither extraordinary in the ring nor is he great on he microphone.

O'Neil's moveset might be good, but it is not something that stands out from the rest of the roster. The Clash of Titus may be a competent finishing manoeuvre, but it is nothing special compared to a Spear or even the Brogue Kick.

The fact that he doesnot have a wrestling background and that he jumped ship from a footballing career straight to NXT doesn’t help either.

If O’Neil’s moveset can be passable on his best day, his ability on the microphone certainly cannnot be.

O’Neil’s suposed comedy promo segments with Darren Young as part of the PTP were downright confusing and somewhat embarrassing; His forays at the announce table resembled a hornet’s nest – too much noise and very little substance. In fact, it was difficult to properly comprehend what he was saying while calling the matches.

His recent promo segments with Stardust has become stale as well after the initial sheen wore off.

O’Neil still has a long way to go

So not a particularly eye catching wrestler, no great promo skills – Many superstars who have ticked either one of the two boxes have been historically deemed unworthy of reaching Vince’s brass ring. So why should some one who ticks neither ?

In fact, Titus’ first claim to reasonable WWE exposure was by piggybacking on the sudden fame his tag team partner Darren Young received for coming out.

That came and went, just like PTP’s short lived title reign.

There is stil time for Titus to improve – It seems Triple H is a big fan of Titus. So opportunities are sure to come. Better packaging and a new persona might just do the trick.

Until then Titus and his supporters will just have to be content with being named Celebrity Dad of the Year at the so called MEGA Awards.
