The Royal Rumble PPV is just four weeks away which means we are just four weeks away from the most unpredictable match of WWE, the Royal Rumble match. 30 superstars compete in a time interval battle royale in order to place their bid to main event WrestleMania.
A lot of new superstars and legends participate in this match along with the regular TV superstars and it is one of the favourite matches of the WWE Universe.
Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar are the champions heading into the Royal Rumble PPV and both are expected to retain their belts on the show. While AJ Styles still stands a chance to dethrone Bryan, there's no chance that Braun Strowman will defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
Given that Brock retains, we can expect that a SmackDown superstar will win the Rumble match (due to Lesnar's part-time schedule) as the RAW superstars will battle it out inside the Elimination Chamber to become the #1 contender for the Universal Championship.

Looking at the dearth of popular face superstars on SmackDown Live, in my opinion, Shawn Michaels should return at #29 and win the Royal Rumble match to challenge Daniel Bryan/ AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.
There are two key reasons why Micheals should win the Royal Rumble match, first as mentioned there are no popular stars on SmackDown Live who can challenge Daniel Bryan or AJ Styles for the WWE title at WrestleMania and given that Michaels made his return to the ring at Crown Jewel, he can please his American fans by stepping inside the ring in the USA.
Secondly, Daniel Bryan vs Shawn Michaels/AJ Styles vs Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship is a dream match for any WWE fan and the Creative team could also add a retirement stipulation to this match (Remember, AJ Styles was asked to invoke the Animal inside him) in order to retire Michaels once again.
So, giving Shawn Michaels the win at Royal Rumble and possibly a retirement match at WrestleMania 35 seems to be the best possible booking option with WWE.
