WWE: Why the Shield should not split soon

The-Shield

The Shield has been a dominant three man tag team in the WWE since making quite an entrance at Survivor Series in 2012. And as every tag team in the WWE goes, they have to split eventually. They only began showing signs of a possible split after Rollins and Reigns lost their titles to Cody Rhodes and Goldust. The first sign was crystal clear when Dean Ambrose said that he was the only champion in the Shield. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were a bit taken aback ad Reigns, especially, showed his discomfort with that statement for a moment that lingered on long enough for every smart fan to take the bait.

This was followed by reports that Roman Reigns is set for a face turn and that might have made many fans go, “I told you so!”

Roman Reigns has been built as the powerhouse of the Shield and all of this falls well with WWE’s affinity to big guys. But the prospect of the Shield splitting, even though expected, was a bit sour. They have been a consistently awesome tag team and nothing compares to the team work that they’ve showcased over the past one year.

A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE

So I was one relieved person when I saw the Shield rebutting together against the Wyatt Family. The sight of these two behemoths in itself was spell- binding. And the Manchester crowd responded accordingly. Two heel teams had just provided one awesome moment and even though the moment was gone in a few seconds, it was still worth the wait.

The Shield will complete a year of breathtaking tag matches at Survivor Series. Will they complete this one year by ironically breaking up or will it trigger a feud with the Wyatt family? And not to forget there are always chances of something happening from in between these two prospects.

The Wyatts and the Shield might now be involved in a feud anytime soon as a heel versus heel match can get a bit awkward but moments like that on Monday Night raw might make its way here and there. And for that to happen the Shield must stick together atleast for a little while.

If Survivor Series marks the first anniversary for their formation, TLC marks the first year of their awesomeness. It was at Tables, Ladders and Chairs that they had their debut match and it was a masterful match. A match that made a veteran like JBL speak like a fanboy for these young talents. It was here that Ryback’s invincibility took a backseat. This was the match that made one believe in the Shield. And thus began their journey as the dominant three man team.

These three individuals deserve to have great careers but WWE creative can’t seem to handle the creative direction of most of its major stars, so these three might just individually get lost in the sea of talent.

Remaining a team seems to be better for now.
