WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin recently admitted that he will need to have left knee surgery. This was to repair the damage that had been caused by an injury he had sustained all the way back in his college years.
This surgery probably ends any plans he might have for a return to WWE for a match at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania and possibly in the foreseeable future too.
Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed that he has been dealing with knee issues for years and the need for a left knee surgery is imminent.
A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE
"So, anyway, subsequently, that’s what led to all my knee issues down the road and I’ve had ACL, PCL put in there from cadaver ligaments several years ago and you know, if I’m telling you like it is, and I will, I need a new left knee here pretty quick," he said in a recent appearance on Bobbycast.
Given that the recovery time for such types of surgeries usually takes several months, or even close to a year, it is safe to say that the WWE legend will not make a comeback anytime soon once he undergoes surgery.
In addition to that, even though fans have seen former WWE stars and legends make guest appearances on RAW and SmackDown and work premium live events like the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, Austin is not expected to be such a case, seeing as how he has been quite selective in his appearances in WWE.
It has been a couple of years since he last wrestled at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens. And given his age - the star will celebrate his 60th birthday in December - it wouldn't make much sense to make a return to wrestling, considering the risk of suffering another serious injury.
Steve Austin has accomplished everything in his WWE career
Steve Austin has had a legendary WWE career, but serious injuries to his knees and neck eventually forced him to retire at still what many consider a young age.
Over the past few years, he has made a few guest appearances at WrestleMania, where he has in-ring or backstage segments.
Austin has won almost every title in WWE multiple times, meaning that there is not much left to accomplish in the business for the veteran. Instead, having another match could risk his health, even if it is a dream match, like one against John Cena in the latter's retirement tour next year.
Therefore, once Austin does undergo his knee surgery, the chances of him getting back for a match seem minimal and he could be expected to rule out an in-ring return permanently.
