For a second RAW in a row, Seth Rollins tried to cash-in his Money in the Bank contract. I think I speak for every longstanding, ardent fan when I say that we thought it was not going to happen. For the second week in a row, Dean Ambrose kept his promise. And he doesn’t look like someone who forgets a promise. He is going to keep it until some unforeseen circumstances lead him to break that vow.
Because, I think it is for the best that the WWE keeps the contract with Rollins. It seems that the contract will play a major role in developing the rivalry between the former Shield members. I mean, Ambrose might just score the win at Battleground which can lead him to challenge Rollins for the briefcase because, you know, he scored a victory over the current Mr. Money in the Bank. Isn’t that the usual routine for anyone who beats a title holder these days? But it will be for the best if Seth Rollins keeps it. Why, you ask? Here’s why...
It’s a great build up
If Dean Ambrose always gets in the way of Seth Rollins’ cash-in, it only accentuates the impact the eventual cash-in can and will have. It is a great lead up to that moment where most probably a new champion will be crowned. Just like Dolph Ziggler had last year. While Ziggler did not have a steady competition throughout his journey towards that fateful night on raw after WrestleMania 29, he did defend it against John Cena.
The current Money in the Bank contract holder has a much better opponent to deal with, someone who is getting popular every passing week, and someone who seems like he won’t be fading away that easily. That is, Rollins’ biggest challenge before he is finally given the baton. This rivalry will be great for both Rollins and Ambrose but if it goes really, really well then the fans can really react fervently in a negative or positive way.
It sets up a potential WrestleMania 31 main event
So, I don’t think WWE can fathom having John Cena lose the titles to a newbie like Rollins. I mean, we can all see what has happened to Damien Sandow after he had probably the last important match of his career. He lost his chance of becoming a champion to Super Cena’s super righteous and unreasonably overrated return from injury. Seeing Seth go the same way is going to be extremely disheartening.
Also, a Cena-Rollins feud at this time does not look too enticing. So, what should be the ideal cash-in opportunity? It can happen on someone who is more or less an equal to Rollins. Roman Reigns looks set to take over the main event scene and it looks like he will be some sort of champion in the coming months. If Roman Reigns wins the championship titles, Rollins can easily make the perfect cash-in and it’ll be great if Ambrose wins the Battle Royal at Royal Rumble and that makes Wrestlemania 31 have a main event that I wish happens.
Here’s how Dean Ambrose thwarted Seth Rollins in the last WWE RAW:
It will make Rollins seem legit
Seth Rollins has quite a following even if he’s a heel who betrayed his teammates and broke up quite an incredible stable. But there are also many who thought that he was the weakling in the Shield and he might just get lost in the shuffle, an argument that has been counteres by his many great performances on the mic and in the ring but his cash-in will make him the superstar every ardent fan thought he had the promise to be. And such a moment will only be an advent to a much younger accumulation of talent in the main event and that’s when officially or unofficially, a new era will actually begin.
