Former WWE Superstar Batista had a legendary career in the Stamford-based promotion. Between 2002 and 2009, the 55-year-old became a force to reckon with. He even made appearances later on before finally retiring in 2019.
Batista's career in WWE saw him become a six-time World Champion. While the achievement is commendable, there is a chance this would never have happened. A close aide of then-WWE boss Vince McMahon wanted to fire the wrestler-turned-actor. The close aide in question is John Laurinaitis.
Ahead of the release of his film "The Killer's Game", which also features Drew McIntyre, Batista was spotted having a conversation with Chris Van Vliet. During this chat, the former World Heavyweight Champion first spoke about his humble upbringing and mentioned how he did not find success in wrestling initially.

While Batista did not reveal the reason why Laurinaitis wanted to fire him, he mentioned some people did not believe in him before naming the former WWE personality. However, Laurinaitis did not get what he wanted, as Batista became part of the legendary stable Evolution, and went on to have a great career.
Batista said a current WWE Superstar has unlimited potential in acting
After Batista bid goodbye to WWE in 2010, he pursued a career in acting and became pretty successful. The wrestler, born in Washington, D.C., went on to work in popular movies like "The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," to name a few.
During the same interview mentioned above, the former World Champion said a current WWE Superstar has unlimited potential in acting. The superstar in question is CM Punk. Batista revealed he wished to see more from Punk in terms of acting and also expressed a desire to work with him.
Dave Bautista said:
"Oh, you know who I think was really overlooked as an actor, I don't know if he hasn't pursued it as much as he'd like to because he's still heavily pursuing professional wrestling, but is CM Punk, Phil Brooks. His potential in acting is pretty unlimited. So, I really wanna see more from him in acting. And I'd really love to work with him, cause I think he has a passion for acting. But I think still his heart is in professional wrestling. Until he's able to let that go a little bit, he'll never be able to fully envelop himself in acting. But I think Phil Brooks is, he's a great actor."
When it comes to acting, Punk was last spotted in the famous wrestling drama series Heels. However, Punk's rival, Drew McIntyre, whom Punk will face at Bad Blood, will be making his acting debut in "The Killer's Game."
