Why was WWE forced to censor Logan Paul's SmackDown segment in his hometown?

Logan Paul's homecoming on WWE SmackDown was full of drama, including an unscripted incident. The United States Champion returned to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, but he was greeted more like a hometown villain than a hero. The Maverick was making his entrance and received the middle finger from several fans at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

The screen turned black, but the FOX logo still appeared in the top corner. The feed cut back to the 29-year-old having ventured further down the entrance ramp. The move comes from FOX's censorship of such acts, including profanity. A similar incident occurred last month when Nia Jax made her entrance, and a fan flipped her off, turning the screen black.

Fans are growing frustrated with FOX's censorship but won't have to wait long until WWE SmackDown is no longer on the network. The blue brand will move to the USA Network on September 13 as part of a multi-year deal.

WWE RAW will have no such issues with censorship when 2025 arrives. The red brand will head to Netflix, where the Stamford-based company will control its feed. This could allow such acts as profanity to air without the irritating bleeping out of words or quick blackouts.

Logan Paul received boos while LA Knight was cheered on WWE SmackDown

Logan Paul's homecoming felt like he was a long way from home, given fans' reactions to the United States Champion. He received a ton of boos upon entering the arena and when giving a promo promoting his match with LA Knight.

The Maverick unveiled a banner that Knight had defaced, which was met by overly enthused fans. They cheered for the challenger, and he soon entered to cheers of joy despite walking into his rival's hometown.

LA Knight is one of WWE's top babyfaces, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he was so adored in Cleveland. There are other factors at play regarding fans' disdain for Logan Paul, including recent controversial comments made about gender identity.

The YouTube megastar puts his United States Championship on the line at WWE SummerSlam. He'll be defending the title for just the third time since winning it at Crown Jewel last November.

LA Knight is the hot favorite to dethrone Paul at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Saturday (August 3). He's yet to win a singles title since arriving on the main roster years ago. The pair have been embroiled in a lengthy feud on SmackDown.
