Why WWE is at its most relevant period right now in the Reality Era

Feud of the year or Feud of this Era?

CM Punk’s departure, Daniel Bryan’s and Roman Reigns’ injuries and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s limited schedule has led the WWE to do what they should have done on long ago – Focus on the load of young talent in the roster. Right now, the only familiar, long time presence is that of Randy Orton, John Cena, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kane. Otherwise the spotlight has been firmly shifted towards the best feud of this year in Rollins and Ambrose.

It is hard to ignore the presence of Ambrose lately since his return at Night Of Champions. Even the commentators have been raving about how much the crowd is in love with him. John Cena’s presence may or may not hamper this feud but it definitely guarantees more attention.

Apart from this feud, the Intercontinental title feud has garnered significant attention given the fact that it is held by one of the most popular superstar Dolph Ziggler. What’s significant is Cesaro’s inclusion in the feud. Cesaro has been having spectacular matches and the excitement and interest of the audience in his freaky displays of strength hasn’t waded down one bit. He came off a stellar match at Night of Champions, maybe the best of the night, against the US Champion Sheamus. This led to an equally stellar match on Raw this past week.

The biggest highlights of Raw this past week were the performances of Rollins, Ambrose, Ziggler, Cesaro, Miz and Sandow et al. Do we see these names crop up much too often? But they have been in the past many weeks since the biggies of the WWE started fading out in retirement or injuries. On top of that reports suggest that Wyatt and harper are set to get one of the biggest pushes this year. They are splitting up the Wyatt Family and that means more spotlight on newer talent.

As trite as it sounds, it is a Blessing In Disguise

The plethora of setbacks that the management has undergone has significantly made a change in the diaspora of the WWE. The focus has been shifted to push these young talents forward and basically invest in them for the longer haul. It’s a blessing that Roman Reigns’ apparent push came to a halt. Pitting him as ‘the chosen one’ lacks originality and it did nothing for him. His Shield teammates have had a better run and they are both helping each other in making their way forward in their careers.

The management has instilled enough faith on those two. Maybe, they don’t think they can be the next larger than life mammoth main event talents but Reigns’ injury has made them make an effort in thinking otherwise.

Stardust, The Usos, Rusev are the few in many new or young talents that are getting the spotlight on their characters. They are getting enough screentime. How fruitful and useful they are remains to be seen. But it seems that setbacks have made the WWE think harder about the talent they have.

Making the best out of a given situation

There will come a time when Reigns returns and is given one heck of a momentum. There will come a time when the biggest babyface of the present era will return to triumphant ‘Yes’ chants and have a supernova of a push. Until then, the WWE is wisely putting the spotlight on what seems to work at the moment. They have a goldmine in the Ambrose-Rollins feud- afeud which has come so early in their solo careers in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

This can define what their careers are going to be like. While they have been compared to many superstars of the past, it is for sure if this momentum continues and if the WWE continues to place its trust on these two, the next generation of superstars will be compared to them. Nobody is as enchanting to watch as Ambrose and nobody’s as exciting in the wrestling department as Rollins is right now. These two have really made a place for themselves for the time being. It remains to be seen how long they’ll be allowed to remain there and create more of those moments.
