WWE is preparing for Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14. However, the attention has already been shifted to the first RAW of 2025, which will be the red brand's premiere on Netflix (January 6).
This means that WWE has decided to spend the last month of the year without a premium live event, with Survivor Series: WarGames being the final one for 2024. But why did WWE go that way?

This year, things are expected to be different when it comes to the Christmas period and holidays. WWE has decided to give superstars the opportunity to spend these days with their families and loved ones.
This means that some of the coming episodes of RAW and SmackDown will be pre-taped. More specifically, the December 20 episode of the blue brand will be taped immediately after this Friday's show, while the RAW episode on December 23 will be taped after next Monday's episode (December 16). There is no word yet on whether the final episodes of the year (December 27 and 30, respectively) will be pre-taped as well.
Saturday Night's Main Event is not a PLE
WWE will bring back Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14 for the first time since 2008. A few matches have been announced, and the promotion will finalize the match card this week.
Even though the creative team treats it like a premium live event, it is not. It is a two-hour special that became part of the schedule due to the deal between WWE and NBC. In fact, WWE announced that Saturday Night's Main Event will return on January 25, a week before Royal Rumble.
WWE is already preparing for the RAW premiere on Netflix
The company continues to advertise the RAW premiere on Netflix as the day that the company will enter a new era. All top stars will be part of the show on January 6, and the creative team has shifted its attention there.
Therefore, having another major PLE between Survivor Series and the premiere on Netflix would have made little sense. Instead, it could hurt the momentum and the build-up of some new storylines and feuds.
Still, Saturday Night's Main Event could create new angles in the existing storylines, including the feud between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens and the rivalry between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan, should the former interfere in Liv and IYO SKY's title match.
