WWE: Will Shawn Michaels have a further role to play after Hell in a Cell?

Shawn Michaels

This year we’ve seen HBK on WWE television quite a few times. Of all the retired wrestlers, HBK has made the most appearances.

He was on Triple H’s side when Triple H and Brock Lesnar collided and he gifted the audience with a sweet chin music on Heyman. Before that, he had been present for RAW 1000 in 2012 and before that, he was part of the best match of 2012 as a special guest referee between Triple H and Undertaker at Wrestlemania 28.

It is always great to have HBK back and it was quite an ovation he received when he made his appearance two weeks ago as a candidate for the RAW Active poll to choose the special referee for the WWE championship match at Hell In The Cell. But will Michaels be present after HIAC?

The coming RAW episode is the Go Home show for the HIAC PPV. Whatever crescendo the Bryan and Orton feud can reach, should be done in the coming episode. HBK will be instrumental in the final show before HIAC. Brie Bella’s involvement as the damsel in distress is the best way WWE has come up with to incite the fans and keep the interest in this feud consistent.

There are two ways that the result in this feud can turn on Monday. Either someone will win clean or someone will cheat.

Taking the first scenario, if Bryan wins clean, this may raise the tension between Michaels and Triple H and Michaels then can be instrumental in Triple H’s feud with the Big Show.

If Orton wins clean, it is doubtful if the feud will continue. Continuing the feud after Orton’s clean win seems like a tiring stretch and with Cena back the main event picture might not have Bryan as much as the past month.

Now looking at the other scenario – if someone cheats, and that most probably is not going to be Bryan because, newsflash, babyfaces seldom cheat though it will be a pleasant surprise if he does. If Orton cheats, the feud will continue and HBK can have further appearances in store.

So, according to my calculations, there is a 75% chance that Michaels might be present for the aftermath of the PPV and while it is always great to have him back, it is still soon to predict if his stay will be worthwhile or if he’ll overstay his welcome.

Big Show has thrived in his recent role and his brief appearances in the past two weeks have amounted to an entertaining chaos.

All this chaos might just culminate and have a role to play this Sunday but while this feud has been a good feud, if not great, there is ample chance that someone will win clean and this might as well trigger the end of this rivalry, for now.
