I cannot help but think WrestleMania 32 is already a huge letdown from the potential it could have been.
The storylines aren’t as compelling. The matches aren’t as significant and the results, much of which we already know, doesn’t thrill anyone in the least. The mere fact Ryback is challenging for the United States Title against Kalisto is all you need to know about how wrestling’s biggest night is taking shape in Dallas.
There is a sense WWE is banking on 3 April as the spring board to a long run by Roman Reigns with a chance he will face John Cena and the quest for a 16th title. That doesn’t do anything for me or the fans, either.
If the company wants to salvage a night that is usually reserved for greatness and some of the best moments of the year, then there has to be a “WOW” factor. There has to be a defining moment we talk about for months to come. Above everything else, the night in Dallas must leave us all wondering what happens next.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
If the company is going to “save” WrestleMania 32, here are a few ways to do it and leave us all happier than we were prior to the start of the evening.
Give Dolph Ziggler his WrestleMania moment
The man who continually gets lost in the shuffle of roster moves and bad storylines deserves a chance to shine once again. Ziggler is destined to become a heel if the company allows it to happen, but in the meantime, let’s all enjoy his performance.
The seven-man Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title accomplishes one thing – to get as many superstars involved in WrestleMania 32 as possible. It also diminishes the importance of the title and makes Kevin Owens look like a fool for carrying it around his waist.
Put the strap on Ziggler, let Owens move on to his feud with AJ Styles and be done with it.
Let AJ Styles and Chris Jericho steal the show
I am excited about seeing these two in the ring again, but at the same time, I am tired of the feud as it is. We all knew Jericho would turn heel, which adds another dimension to this match. This has a chance to be the best performance of the night and given a chance five years ago, it could have been a main event-caliber show.
Styles will move on to face Kevin Owens, Jericho may get a shot a putting some other young star over. Jericho does not have a lot of mileage left in the company. Using him as WWE has to work with new or young talent is his best role.
It is also the best thing for business when Jericho is a heel who can take heat from the fans who still appreciate his work.
Have Bray Wyatt Interfere in the Brock Lesnar-Dean Ambrose match
As if this wasn’t a given already.
Wyatt is not “in action” in Dallas due to injury, but that does not mean he cannot be involved. The Lesnar-Wyatt angle must pick up once the Eater of Worlds is healthy. And he should be part of this match, causing Lesnar to lose.
While the feud between the two giants is all but set, what happens to Ambrose once he leaves Dallas? Who will be waiting for him and a new opponent? I know Alberto Del Rio has been removed from action and touring on some WWE events, but a program between these two might be a pretty good script. If anything, it bides time while other WWE superstars come back from injury.
Keep the WWE World Heavyweight title on Triple H
For the love of God, people are upset with a predetermined match between these two where we all know Roman Reigns is going to walk out with the title around his waist.
And there is really nothing we can do about it.
Keeping the title on Triple H makes a lot more sense and opens the door for feuds with Randy Orton and John Cena before Seth Rollins marches back into the company and demands to reclaim the title he never lost.
Fans would much rather cheer for a heel champion right now than support a babyface they do not want walking around with the title. And since there is no chance to Reigns turning the corner in Dallas, there is no reason for him to hold the title for the third time in four months.
Have Roman Reigns turn – On the Rock
The only way I can think of this turning out well for Reigns is if he wins the title, but he turns heel in the process. It’s been discussed many times over, including Steve Austin’s reasons for the move.
Reigns does not have to turn on Triple H to make a statement in Dallas. He could win, like planned and stand in the ring to the many boos by the fans.
Cue the music. The Rock comes in to cheer on and celebrate with his cousin. And when he sees the fans clearly behind the Brahma Bull, Reigns snaps and spears his family. It’s the unkindest cut of all and it solidifies him as a badass heel who now challenges Ambrose for the title one more time, this time as enemies, not friends.
