#2 Gauntlet match

A gauntlet match is basically a match where two opponents square up first and whoever wins the match remains while the loser is eliminated. The matches take place one after the other and there is no respite for the competitors. The rules are the same as in a normal match with pinfall or submission the only ways to win. It is a mini-tournament compressed into a single match to determine the winner.

The most recent gauntlet match took place on Smackdown Live where Kofi Kingston faced five superstars in Sheamus, Cesaro, Rowan, Samoa Joe, and Randy Orton to get a chance at the WWE championship at Wrestlemania 35.

With potentially four teams involved in the Smackdown tag team title match at Wrestlemania, a gauntlet match would give all four teams time to shine in front of a capacity crowd rather than having all at the same time in a regular match.
