#1 The Undertaker vs. Elias
When all’s said and done, The Undertaker’s legendary WWE career will be defined by his appearances at WrestleMania.
“The Deadman” won 21 consecutive matches at WWE’s biggest show of the year before losing to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. Since then, he has continued to compete at the event, defeating Bray Wyatt, Shane McMahon and John Cena, as well as losing against Roman Reigns in a match which, at the time, appeared to signal the end of his career.
As the years have progressed, ‘Taker’s importance to WWE and WrestleMania has decreased more and more, but at least his appearance at last year’s event was heavily promoted by Cena in the weeks leading up to the show. This year? Well, his name has not even been mentioned.
Regardless of his in-ring ability and complete lack of storyline right now, it is very hard to believe that a not-yet-retired ‘Taker would be left off the show by Vince McMahon & Co., so we will surely see him appear in some capacity at MetLife Stadium.
If “The Deadman” competes, his most likely opponent is Elias. WWE’s resident guitarist would be able to set up a match with one witty lyric in a song, and all it would take is the sound of a ‘GONG’ to get fans on board with an impromptu encounter between the two.
