#3. WrestleMania moment
This is a no-brainer. WWE loves nostalgia during WrestleMania and for years, they've brought back some of the biggest legends in the business to get that nostalgia pop.
Since there weren't any other legends like The Rock, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin or The Undertaker available, they likely decided to go for a legend who was - John Cena.
Either way, it did work because it got a big pop, with fans raving about the return of the old gimmick.
#2. To hide his changing appearance
This may sound odd, but there is actually some sense to it. John Cena has been growing out his hair, taking on a different appearance to further his chances and opportunities in his growing Hollywood career.
He has openly stated that the hairstyle is here to stay and for the first time in years, and this may be the reason why he decided to bring back the gimmick with the cap.
