We're getting closer and closer to the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment and the Showcase of the Immortals, WrestleMania 35. WWE will go all out to give us a WrestleMania that we will remember for years to come. This year's event, however, could be the longest in WWE history.
An astonishing 17 matches are rumoured to take place at the PPV this year. Currently, WrestleMania IV holds the record for most matches with 16, and WrestleMania 35 could break that record. It's going to be a pretty long show, but the card looks like one of the best in recent memory.
We could see female WWE Superstars main event 'Mania for the first time, we could see the first ever African American WWE Champion in Kofi Kingston and much much more. However, that's not to say that all the matches will steal the show. Some matches will deliver and some will disappoint.
Although seven matches have been confirmed so far, we still don't know who Kurt Angle's opponent will be and who will face Buddy Murphy, so right now, we are going to rank the five confirmed matches by its potential quality.
#5. Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins - Universal Championship
This comes as a big surprise. This match was supposed to be worthy of the main event of WrestleMania 35 but now it's being pushed down to mid-card level. Everything started off well; Seth Rollins won the Royal Rumble match and chose Brock Lesnar as his opponent before being taken to Suplex City the very same night. Everyone was excited and everyone couldn't wait to see them fight.
Sadly, that was the very last time we saw Brock Lesnar. He's expected to be on Raw this week but he's constant absence doesn't help their match at all. Their match has now been seen as an afterthought as there is less build up and fewer confrontations from the two opponents.
Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose reformed The Shield at Fastlane and Lesnar wasn't anywhere to be seen during the PPV or the next night on Raw. Let's hope WWE does a good job on Raw by promoting it when Lesnar returns. How are we supposed to care about this match when the current Universal Champ himself doesn't?
This match won't be very long, as we have seen with Lesnar's past matches. There will be suplexes and F5s, suplexes and F5s, several suicide dives from Rollins, several Stomps and more suplexes. In less than 10 minutes, either Lesnar or Rollins will walk out with the title. Let's hope it will be Rollins, or else we will have another disappointing Universal title match at the Show of Shows.
#4. The Miz vs Shane McMahon
Shane McMahon shocked the world when he attacked his former tag team partner The Miz at Fastlane after the two failed to recapture the Smackdown Tag Team Championships, turning heel in the process. Shane is known for his high-flying capabilities, but he is not that good of a wrestler.
These two could possibly put on a decent match, but it will be cool if a stipulation was added, like No Disqualifications. Then we would see Shane use his signature trash can by placing it on Miz before hitting the Coast-to-Coast. Other weapons like steel chairs, kendo sticks and tables will be at their disposal, so that will make things interesting.
If, however, it just happens to be a normal match, then it could perhaps be a bathroom break or less must-see. This is not a prediction article but I think The Miz is going to win this match. Shane McMahon has lost all his singles WrestleMania matches since he returned to WWE in 2016. Miz can put on a pretty decent match, but this match shouldn't go over 18 minutes.
#3. Batista vs Triple H - No Holds Barred
The foundation for this match was laid at Smackdown's 1000th episode when The Animal Batista teased a match with his Evolution faction mate, Triple H. Batista stated that The Game has done everything in this business except beat him. Triple H went on to suffer from an injury at Crown Jewel which put the match in jeopardy.
Many fans thought the match would not happen until Batista made a surprise return on Raw when he attacked Ric Flair backstage on his 70th Birthday Celebration. The match is confirmed for The Grandest Stage of Them All as these two legends will go one-on-one for the very last time.
The match being under a No Holds Barred stipulation makes it even better. We know how dangerous The Cerebral Assassin can be in matches like these, especially since he will be allowed to use his sledgehammer. We also know how Batista can be once he unleashes the Animal.
This match will be good, and it will definitely be ranked up on the greatest matches of WrestleMania 35. It will last approximately 25 minutes. This will be a must watch.
#2. Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair - Raw Women's Championship
This year's WrestleMania could possibly be headlined by female superstars for the first time ever. So how did it all start? Let's take a trip back to 2018, where superstars from Raw took on superstars from Smackdown, champions vs champions, tag teams vs tag teams at Survivor Series. Becky Lynch was the Smackdown Women's Champion and Ronda Rousey was, and still is, the Raw Women's Champion.
These two were supposed to go face to face in the most anticipated match of the PPV but thanks to Nia Jax, Becky was taken out of the match and chose Charlotte Flair as her replacement. All this happened while Becky Lynch was the hottest superstar in the company and was at the peak of 'The Man' gimmick.
Becky went on to win the women's Royal Rumble match and was supposed to face Ronda Rousey one-on-one at WrestleMania until Charlotte showed up. Everywhere Becky goes, Charlotte shall follow. This feud has now faced awkward turns and Charlotte seems a bit left out in the mix between Becky and Ronnie, especially during their Twitter wars.
We are getting the triple threat match we didn't sign up for and there's nothing we can do about it. While many fans don't want Charlotte in the match, it will be even better with her if it's going to main event WrestleMania. Think about Charlotte's past matches.
The triple threat match between Charlotte, Becky and Sasha Banks for the inaugural WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania 32 was the best match of the night, her match with Asuka at WrestleMania 34 was one of the best matches of the night, her match with Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series was one of the best matches of the year, her match with Asuka and Becky at TLC was one of the best matches of the night and her match with Becky at Evolution was the best match of the year
Neither Becky Lynch or Ronda Rousey can put on a great match like Charlotte. I say this match will be a good match, considering it will main event the PPV. It will last ± 20 minutes.
#1. A.J. Styles vs Randy Orton
One segment...that's all it took. Randy Orton and AJ Styles' segment on Smackdown Live was all it took to hype up this match and make it one of the most talked about matches on the WrestleMania card. The two took shots at each other like never seen before in recent memory.
Their promo delivery was spot-on and it sounded so believable and not like one of those forced scripted promos. These two sounded like they read each other's Wikipedia pages. More promos like these in WWE will definitely improve the product and make feuds look and feel more realistic.
Its the third generation superstar vs the indie guy, The Viper vs The Phenomenal One and the RKO vs the Styles Clash/Phenomenal Forearm. I mean, what else do you need to get hyped up for this match? Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar could learn something from this feud.
No titles are involved in this match, but there's no doubt we are going to see a classic. These are two of WWE's biggest superstars and their match will certainly impress. They have had a match on Smackdown before, but that was just a glimpse of what's yet to come at WrestleMania 35.
Perhaps we could see Randy Orton counter AJ Styles' 450 splash into an RKO? This match will be, if not, one of the best matches of the night. It will definitely last over 20 minutes.
