#3 Leaves room for extending the feud
It’s been widely believed that AJ Styles’ provocation will cause The Undertaker to change his gimmick and return for a final run with WWE. While it’s being believed that The Phenom will win his match against the ‘Phenomenal One’ after introducing his new gimmick, the creative still have an option to go about this entire feud in a slightly different manner.
Styles should beat The Undertaker so that the latter is irked enough to change his character. That will have more impact as compared to a shift in gimmick after a victory. Once The Undertaker has suffered a loss at the hands of someone who has dared to go personal with him, it will be a valid motivation for him to go back and prepare for a massive return.
This, in turn, will keep the WWE universe hooked onto their feud. In the absence of The Undertaker, WWE can have Styles claiming the glory of that by constantly reminding the fans about how he beat a legend at the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All’. Finally, when he grows comfortable with his progress on the red brand following the ‘Showcase of Immortals’, The Undertaker can return and reignite his feud with the leader of The O.C.
It would make for a more intense rivalry with good storytelling while accounting for a perfect retirement feud with respect to The Undertaker.
