#2 To help establish AJ Styles as a dominant heel
Do you remember the WWE Universe’s reaction to Roman Reigns on SmackDown after WrestleMania 33? That was the best chance that WWE should have capitalized on with a heel turn of the Big Dog. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and we all know how things got worse for Reigns on the main roster. He was winning all his matches but the crowd was still against him.
The fact is that beating The Undertaker at WrestleMania is bound to attract heat from the fans – something that AJ Styles needs right now. He has done an excellent job as a heel. But he can be one of the most vicious heels in WWE today just like he has done in the past. A WrestleMania victory over ‘Taker will naturally prompt Styles to brag more and more about his potential which will ultimately see the crowd sympathizing with The Undertaker during a proper retirement feud.
Following that, even if ‘Taker is retired at the hands of the ‘Phenomenal One’, the fans will be grateful for being able to see the latter’s career meeting a justified conclusion. However, that won’t be possible if Styles isn’t the kind of heel that has nothing to add to the storyline.
