WWE booked a seven-man ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 31 where Daniel Bryan captured the title after an enthralling bout. The company used the same formula at WrestleMania 32 where Zack Ryder stole the limelight with a surprise victory.

However, WWE dropped this idea in 2017 as Dean Ambrose defended his belt on the kickoff show against Baron Corbin. This proved to be a major down point in the history of the Intercontinental Championship. Although the championship has got decent positions at the previous two WrestleMania events, the fans have not enjoyed the matches so much as they did at WrestleMania 31 and 32.

A ladder match allows WWE to book several high spots which could get the crowd going if the match is booked to be the curtain-raiser for WrestleMania 36. Also, looking at the Superstars involved in the fray currently, the likes of Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura and Braun Strowman can wow the fans with their athleticism and high risk moves.

All the aforementioned names have taken part in multi-man ladder matches in WWE hence, they even have the experience of taking part in this gimmick match. As the reception for the two WrestleMania ladder matches was fantastic, WWE should bring back the gimmick at WrestleMania 36.
