Edge made an emotional return to WWE in the 2020 Royal Rumble match.

In the 2020 Men's Royal Rumble match, Edge threw Randy Orton over the top rope before being eliminated by Roman Reigns. On the episode of Monday Night Raw after that, Randy Orton shockingly betrayed and brutalized him.

Edge was on the shelf for more than a month after that. During that time period, Randy Orton destroyed Matt Hardy multiple times and even hit Edge's wife Beth Phoenix with an RKO.

Now that Edge has returned from his kayfabe injuries, he is fit to face off with Randy Orton at WrestleMania. Randy Orton is thought of as a safe worker and is the perfect opponent for a returning superstar like Edge who has not had a singles match in almost ten years.

Because there has been a large amount of weapons used in this feud, it makes sense for this to be given some sort of stipulation and a no holds barred match would be perfect.
