I would begin by stating the obvious- Pictures do speak a thousand words. Wrestlemania is not just the most money making venture of the WWE, it is a text book reading of iconography. I mean, it makes some lasting images that stand the test of time and make icons out of ordinary superstars.
The videos of these moments might be more apt in elucidating everything before the eye but an image? That’s the true test for a plethora of memories
Here are ten of the most iconic images in Wrestlemania History
10. When you fight fire with fire….
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
You get burnt.
Two superstars who embody the extreme definitions of the WWE came together for a match at a time when Edge and Lita was truly shocking everyone with their Rated R avatar. Mick Foley tried to bring them back to mother earth and in that pursuit gave us this lasting image.
9. Goodbye, Nature Boy
This picture speaks more for the before and after this superkick.
Shawn Michaels before launching his Sweet Chin Music said ‘I love You’ to Flair and Flair stood valiant in the face of defeat. And later, of course, the loss led to the most memorable farewell in WWE history to one of its greatest superstars.
8. The End
Triple H and Undertaker faced one more time and HBK was the referee and in a moment for the ages, they gave us this before they parted. Long Live the Era!
7. The Dream
Yes, the boyhood dream that came true.
Bret Hart and Michaels delivered a classic and ended things on a bitter note when HBK refused to celebrate until Hart was made to leave the ring. And so he did.
6. Macho man wins the WWE title
He competed in multiple matches and finally led the arena to a full dose of Macho Madness and picked Miss Elizabeth on his shoulders. A champion, he finally was and if you remember this, then Hogan was also by his side.
5. Stone Cold, welcome to the bad side
Stone Cold shocked fans all over the world when he turned heel at Wrestlemania 17. He hit the Rock with 16 chair shots and Vince McMahon sort of assisted this victory. Who would have thought?
4. Rock vs Hogan
This wasn’t a technical marvel but the sheer joy of seeing these two charismatic superstars in the ring together sent the fans in Toronto in a tizzy and they made the main event look so bleak, the crowd had lost all their decibel potential by the time the main event kicked in.
3. Hogan and THE Giant
Andre was the first most famous giant in the WWE, he was mammoth and he was strong and nobody could touch him, until Hulkamania ran wild and suplexed him to mark the first historic moment at Wrestlemania. Timeless.
2. Double Turn
No fictional storyline has yet been executed as perfectly as this one. It was pure magic and of course skill. Bret Hart and Stone Cold entered as face and a heel respectively, they did not leave the building the same way.
I repeat, a fixtional storyline has yet to surpass THIS.
1. The retribution
If only they were alive and healthy.
Chris Benoit dies and his legacy dies with him as far as the fictional world of the WWE is concerned. But Eddie still lives on. A legend.
Both of them won their first and only major titles in that year. But they sure made it the most memorable and lasting memory of them. Together.
