Rusev is the crowd's favorite with his 'Rusev day' gimmick. He is also a decent wrestler, good at delivering promos and gets the loudest cheer from the crowd. In short, he is the dream wrestler of any wrestling company. But, due to the lack of any decent storyline for him throughout the year, he turned into another mid-card wrestler. All he does now is chant "Rusev Day" and "Lana no. 1'" with the crowd. The only feud worth mentioning was with AJ Styles during Extreme Rules. Except that, he had some brief feuds with Jinder Mahal, Bobby Roode, and Cien Almas, about which many fans have already forgotten.

Until the last episode of SmackDown, he was involved in a feud with Vien Almas with no significant progress.
