7. WWE pays tribute to the victims of 9/11
The 9/11 attacks were intended to bring the United States to its knees. However, the unfortunate event helped in bringing all the countries together, while the people in the United States remained defiant. While the country was still reeling from one of the biggest acts of terrorism in history, WWE decided to show the world that America wouldn’t bow down to anyone.
The live edition of SmackDown was the first WWE program to be televised post the 9/11 attacks, and the first congregation of a large group of people after 9/11. Lillian Garcia’s rendition of the Star Sprinkled Banner sent a chill up the spine of every American, as WWE epitomized the never say die spirit of the people in the United States.
