With the involvement of Reigns and due to the brand split, WWE are be looking to elevate the championship. Reigns and Rusev look bound to collide at SummerSlam for the championship and we could have only two obvious outcomes. Either Reigns could win or Rusev could retain.
If Reigns wins, Owens can have a one on one feud with the Samoan Superman for the United States Championship. In this second scenario, WWE could have a three-way battle for the championship. either way, the United States championship is going to benefit.
