The brand split is officially in place and both Raw and SmackDown now have separate rosters, storylines, and even production sets. From this point onwards, it will be a battle for brand supremacy between Raw and SmackDown and the creative team on both the brands will have to come up with attractive feuds if they are to get one over the other.
A major claim that came up after the draft was about Raw having a better roster. To an extent, this is spot on which is the reason why the near future of Monday Night Raw looks mouthwatering. There are some great feuds that could be put forward and here is a look at them.
Sasha Banks vs. Paige
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Sasha Banks is now the Women’s Champion. She is likely to have a fallout feud with Charlotte next but once she comes out through it, Sasha is going to need a good heel to face off against. Enter Paige. Paige has been underutilized for a long time now and despite being one of the actual innovators of the whole Women’s revolution, Paige took a backseat due to the Four Horsewomen.
Now would be her chance to step back into the limelight. After Charlotte, Paige will be the best candidate to feud with Sasha Banks. Paige is someone who knows to excel as a heel and her in-ring style compliments her as well.
Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens
Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens are two of the best performers in the Raw brand, period. They have mastered the art of getting a reaction from the WWE Universe and this is why a feud between these two must happen. Rollins and Owens are currently heels on paper, but even if they are not turned, this storyline is going to entertain the fans.
The promos between Owens and Rollins are going to be top notch and combine this with the in-ring skills that these two brings to the table, and we got ourselves a deadly combination that could go on to become feud of the year. All they need would be a purpose to fight each other and the WWE Universal championship will serve just that.
Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. New Day
Enzo Amore, Big Cass, and the New Day are currently redefining the term entertainment in the current WWE roster. And at the same time, they are also the top two baby face tag teams in the Raw tag team division. It would make sense for WWE to pair these teams with heel tag teams separately, but at the same time, they are bound to collide at one point or the other.
Going back the first point, both tag teams are extremely entertaining and a storyline involving them is surely going to be an exciting one. Add in the tag team championship to raise the stake and it form a perfect tag team storyline for the brand.
Sami Zayn vs. Neville
WWE announced that there will be a cruiserweight division exclusively for Monday Night Raw. And a week after the announcement Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley drafted Neville to their brand. The fans started seeing a dream of the cruiserweight division being built around Neville as he was a great choice to lead the pack. He is an exciting performer to watch and all of these factors apply to Sami Zayn as well.
But this is a feud that need not be restricted to the cruiserweight division. Zayn and Neville have the ability to come up with classic matches and this should be the focus if WWE is going to have a program with these two.
Finn Balor vs. Brock Lesnar
This might sound like a fantasy booking because to an extent it is. Finn Balor recently made his debut on the main roster and in the same night, he got pins over two monstrous superstars. In turn, he has also booked his spot in the SummerSlam main event, and from this, it is evident that he is getting the ‘superman’ booking. With that said, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Balor gets a rub with Brock Lesnar.
Balor and Lesnar are two wrestlers that bring contrasting style to the debate and this is why they could excel. Demon vs. The Beast is a good sell for casual and the Internet fans alike and it is a feud that could bring some smiles.
