Ryback after trainingThe Big Guy has been a big deal ever since he started squashing local jobbers in the WWE.He has been made to look like a huge deal by the management that puts their belief in him firmly. But a lot has gone into making “The Big Guy” the way he is. He’s determined and motivated and he’s gone through several injuries and moments that speak a lot about a pro wrestler’s life away from all of its theatrical attributions. There are many things that, despite the social media boom in the WWE, you may not know about its performers. Here are the 5 little known facts about Ryback-
#5 A guest bell ringer
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Like so many of us wrestling fans, Ryback was quite young when he got interested in the world of wrestling.
But unlike many of us, he actually got one of the best seats to watch a WWE show. Long ago when he was 12, he was anointed as a guest bell ringer at a live event of the then-named World Wrestling Federation. For a little kid who’d been a fan of wrestling, that has to be a moment of a lifetime.
That experience may have reinstated the determintaion in him to become a professional wrestler later on in life.
#4 He worked at a restaurant
After being released from OVW, Ryback was ashamed to get back to his home in Vegas. So he stayed in Louisville and found a job in a restaurant named Smokey Bones.
He liked the job because it helped him work his social skills by dealing with various customers and he could also consume a lot of food while working there and adhere to his diet.Even after being fired from the one job that really mattered to him, he was determined to stay in shape and get back.
That experiment worked really well.
#3 The origins of \"Feed Me More\"
The actual origins of the ‘Feed Me More’ chant can be traced back to the time when Ryback was wrestling local jobbers. Actually, the correct wrestling jargon is that he was squashing local jobbers.
So, in the midst of one of those matches, he just uttered those three words which, when he went to the back, was informed that Vince McMahon really liked it. Hence, it became his catchphrase.
So contrary to the reason that the chant originated because of the fact that he likes consuming a lot of calories, the aforementioned story is the real reason behind the ‘Feed Me More’ phrase.
#2 \'The secret\' behind his determination
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is a book that made a lot of difference in his life.
You may have seen that book make an appearance in one of the better segments between Kevin Owens and The Big Guy on Raw. Ryan Reeves aka Ryback was fired in 2006 from OVW(Ohio Valley Wrestling) and he wasn’t in the best state of mind. He fell into a state of depression following his release from the company and depended heavily on alcohol and training.
One day, Luke Gallows came to Smokey Bones and left Ryback a 30$ tip and an advice to read this book. From there onwards, Ryback got the drive to get back to the WWE and the rest is history.
#1 Silverback
That sounds like an X- Men name. Well, Ryback started weightlifting at the age of 12 and his physique garnered him the nickname of ‘Silverback’, which stands for an adult male gorilla.
He used that nickname during some parts of his wrestling career as well. It may give an indication that Ryback is an amalgamation of his reall name Ryan and his real life nickname Silverback.
Way, way better than Skip Sheffield.
