Kevin OwensYou could be a power based wrestler and you could be an aerial wrestler. Having both these styles in one’s arsenal, however, is a very rare phenomenon. WWE has seen an array of such wrestlers over the years even though these wrestlers did not show up at a very high frequency. It is entertainment at its best when watching such wrestlers because it is hard to predict the next move that they are going to come up with.Kevin Owens recently reminded the fans about this brilliance. During the matches that he had with John Cena, Owens was flying all around the ring while being powerful at the same time. So here is a look at some of the wrestlers who mixed power with some high flying moves wih high effect.
#5 Cesaro
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Cesaro is powerful. There isn’t going to be any arguments against this. The way in which Cesaro man handles all his opponents in between the ropes is simply must watch television. And it would be safe to say that Cesaro is one of the most powerful wrestlers on WWE’s current roster. But what make his move set more impressive are his aerial moves.
Cesaro has a wicked drop kick. He could drop kick a superstar standing on the top rope as well. The suplex from the top rope is the perfect mix of power and aerial ability. But the best aerial move that Cesaro has pulls off is his diving European uppercut. There are more moves that Cesaro is yet to show in WWE since they have a strict policy on how their wrestlers wrestle.
#4 Scott Steiner
No, I’m not talking about the Scott Steiner that we know today. I’m talking about the Scott Steiner who was part of the legendary tag team with his brother, Rick Steiner. Back when Scott was young, he used to be more agile in the ring. And despite this agility, Steiner never compromised on his power.
A majority of his moves were power based but Scott was not afraid to try some aerial moves as well. The trademark aerial move of Steiner was his Frankensteiner. He did use the move a couple of times during his stay in TNA, but the frequency was pretty low. However, the fans will always remember Steiner for being the muscular freak that relied on power.
#3 Vader
The size that Vader has, makes him apt for being a power based wrestler. And make no mistake; he was a power based wrestler. But the greatest part about Vader was the set of top rope moves that he came up with. Vader has had many memorable matches during his career and he had his share of aerial moves in all of them.
For instance, Vader could do a moonsault. Imagine some one of his size doing a moonsault. He did not go on to become a big star in the WWE as expected from someone with his talent, but Vader still has a unique footprint in the wrestling business which will not be erased anytime soon.
#2 Kane
The devil’s favorite demon is still going strong in the WWE. Throughout his career, Kane has been known to be a power based wrestler who dominates his opponents. From Chokeslam to tombstone piledrivers, Kane has a great way of showing off his power in the matches. But Kane does some moves that is not usually seen in the move set of a 300 pounder.
The Big Red Machine does dropkicks, enziguiri on occasions while the diving clotheslines is a mainstay in his matches. He pulls off such good variations despite his age and deserves a lot of respect for the same. The aerial moves of Kane might tone down as we go ahead into the future so enjoy them while you can.
#1 Kevin Owens
With the mention of Owens in the introduction, it is probably not a big surprise to see him in the list. Having worked almost 15 years in the independent circuit, Owens has polished his skills effectively. He might look like a fat boy that you come across in the neighbourhood but the things he can do from the top rope are simply jaw dropping.
He even pulls off moonsaults. This stand out style is one of the things that earned Owens his push. If Owens was just another power based wrestler, he would have been no different from Rusev or Vladimir Kozlov inside the ring, but since he has a lot more on his resume, Owens is pushing Cena to the limit, and the fans are enjoying it as well.
