5 WWE Superstars who need major career boosts

Curtis Axel starting off strong, but has failed since

We’ve all have seen it – WWE Superstars who have potential but there is something that holds them back. They can’t get their feet on the ground and could use help in getting over with the overly choosy WWE Universe. While not everyone needs a manager to get over, just a push in the right direction could be all these Superstars need to stay on the scene. Sometimes it’s their character style and other times it something like promo work or simple things like changing their look.

A good example that WWE has revived a career is recently Darren Young. Playing on Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan on his Presidential Campaign Trail, the “Make Darren Young Great Again” storyline is starting slowly but surely. WWE is invested in Young and had enlisted the help of Bob Backlund to get the former Tag Team Champion over as a singles star.

On the list, while some of these Superstars have found success in the past, they could use a good comeback or just a boost to get them more noticed and profound in the WWE Universe. Here is some who need it the most.

5. Baron Corbin

Winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was a good, strong surprise for Corbin

Corbin started off hot by winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania this year. Since then, he has been involved in a feud with Dolph Ziggler but has yet to gain any real traction on the main roster. As WWE has promoted his Lone Wolf gimmick, Corbin has massive potential to be a top heel. He looks sinister, and having that kind of attitude to dominate the SmackDown roster would be a great thing for him.

4. The Shining Stars

The Shining Stars’ push ended before it even began.

If anyone has had nine lives in the WWE as of late, it would be Primo and Epico. Time and time again WWE has invested in the men by reviving their characters through gimmick changes, but nothing seems to work. While they do have good chemistry as a tag team and display heel work on the mic, Primo and Epico must make an impact on the Raw roster for the WWE Universe to take them seriously once again. Perhaps they can be involved in a faction, where they are the supporting act. If the Shining Stars gimmick doesn’t get over soon, it may be the third strike and they are out.

3. Summer Rae

Summer is one of many stars from NXT who haven’t done much on the main roster

Summer Rae had a decent showing in NXT but is obscure on the WWE main roster. She only lasted one season on Total Divas; the appearance didn’t do much for her. I fairly enjoyed her small feud with Layla, but nothing happened much for her afterwards. I could see Summer being involved in a female faction (Think PMS in the Attitude Era) to make an impact in the Women’s Division. In retrospect, Summer could’ve been a part of the Divas Revolution last year. Summer is beautiful, has a good look and decent wrestling skills, surely something could happen for her.

2. The Ascension

The Ascension have had a disappointing main roster run

The tag team has been lost in the shuffle of the Tag Team Division since their debut. The biggest mistake was perhaps the change in their look. Most fans like to make fun of the team, citing they look like The Road Warriors. For that alone, fans do not take them seriously which is a shame since they were much more effective in NXT. While the characters themselves have a dark look, just simple changes and some wins on the main roster should help this team immensely.

1. Curtis Axel

The third generation superstar has yet to find something that sticks

The son of Mr.Perfect has certainly seen better days when he captured the Intercontinental Championship several years ago. He was once a Paul Heyman guy during that time, which was a big deal. However, since then, Axel hasn’t been doing as much other than the Social Outcasts. That was a pretty good idea, but since has fallen apart between Adam Rose’s indefinite suspension and the brand extension. His biggest storyline was Axelmania, and that was extremely over last year. Everything is there; the right idea just has to take off for him.
