A young fan with Sheamus and Big Show

John Cena with a fanTerming people who watch wrestling as fans is a broad classification. It is like tagging everything that bites as snakes. Although most of the time we are stereotyped by muggles, there are different categories among us which keeps us entertained. When you see someone comment in a picture or when someone posts something in social media, immediately, we can figure out the category he or she belongs to.In case you have a hard time figuring this out, then this post is just for you. If you are a wrestling fan, read on and find out the different categories among us and if you are a simple muggle, read on and stop stereotyping us.

#8 Honorable Mention: The Kids

A young fan with Sheamus and Big Show

Okay, Strictly for PG era, these are WWE’s money making motto. They sell kids the John Cena merchandise and at the end of the day, their parents curse Cena.

#7 Marks

John Cena

These guys are the epitome of wrestling idiocy. They usually are big fans of a particular wrestler or a promotion solely based on shallow reasons. For instance a mark could be someone who supports John Cena because he wins matches.

These types of fans might not know about how the wrestling business works and could end up crying if their favorite superstar loses a match. Trust me, picking a debate with these guys is the worst thing you could do because in their eyes John Cena (just an example) could be better than the likes of Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and all the other great technicians that ever lived. These are dangerous human beings and it is better if you keep your distance away from these types.

#6 Rebel independent fans:

Independent Fans love streamers

The toned down family-friendly product of WWE might not make everyone happy. So what do they do?

They tune into independent wrestling of course. These guys are hardcore fans of promotions like Ring of Honor, PWG, CZW and TNA to an extent. A feeling of pride rushes through their veins whenever an independent wrestler goes on to make it in the big leagues. They see WWE as the corporate machine and do everything in their power to promote their Indy promotions.

In short, these guys are a toned-down version of the original ECW fans. Their favorite wrestler might be Super Dragon or Jay Lethal since they look through the merchandising machines of WWE. If you want to start watching independent wrestling more, then these guys are the ones to hang out with.

#5 Smarks

Cena haters consist a big portion of Smarks

Smarks know how the wrestling business works. They know the whole thing is scripted but still tune in. They are hard to debate with. This is because, they feel superior to the other fans and even the WWE creative (which is true to an extent) They have an opinion about almost everything that happens in the business and know who is good and who is bad (according to them).

Taking shots at John Cena is one of their hobbies and they could do the same in sleep as well. At the same time, Smarks have the ability to take you out emotionally if you engage in a debate. They clearly know the recent happenings but if you poke them up with some history classes you might have some luck in knocking them out.

#4 Casual fans or era specialists:

Attitude Era

Era specialists are those fans who love one particular era of professional wrestling. It could be the attitude era, ruthless aggression era, PG era or the Golden era. They will have a tough time accepting the other time frames and wrestlers, since there is a firm belief that their favorite era is the best.

This category is dominated by attitude era fans. The era specialists will poke up from everywhere whenever there is a debate about the eras and they are fun to argue with if you have the right arguments. They will probably remember the high points of a particular era and that’s about it. And they will be mostly interested in dangerous spots, divas matches and other entertaining segments.

#3 Encyclopedias:

These guys even know which year Undertaker had this look

Need to know what happened in the Monday night raw episode of 12 May 1995? Ask these guys.

They have an in-depth knowledge about all the historic milestones in wrestling along with all those details that you tend to miss easily. They like to keep themselves updated but at the same time would amuse you with all the "did you know" stuff. You don't want to spew out any wrong stats or facts in front of these guys as they are sure to pounce on the same and correct you then and there.

Don’t bother referring Wikipedia to prove these guys wrong because they might be one big step ahead of you when it comes to the same.

#2 The ashamed fans:

The closet fans

They are closet wrestling fans. They follow the sport but do not admit in public due to various reasons. Firstly, they hide the fact due to the fear of social backlash. I mean who would want to get teased by their friends? Despite this, these type of fans enjoy wrestling every once in a while but never tweet or talks about it.

Their biggest fear is getting stereotyped. Keeping wrestling merchandise out of their house is one of the biggest symptoms of a closet fan and he/she hides wrestling videos just like most of us hide porn. But if these guys turn around, they could end up being excellent wrestling fans.

#1 The Wrasslin fans

They know the value of William Regal

Professional wrestling is an art form and these guys appreciate that.

They are well aware of the efforts that the wrestlers put in and appreciate a good match. Superstars like William regal, Goldust and Owen Hart could be their favorites.

Unlike most of the other fans that enjoy the soap opera storytelling through the microphones promos and segments, these guys know that a story could be told in the ring. They know to analyze perfectly and could separate a bad match from a good match with excellent precision. At the same time, they can be incredibly demanding since they know what good wrestling is and what bad wrestling is. So which type of fan are you? Drop in the comments and if you belong to some other category, then mention that as well.
