#1 To set up Randy Orton as a possible opponent for Drew McIntyre
![Bobby Lashley fell short to Drew McIntyre in a great match](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/06/09ff2-15921944070203-800.jpg 1920w)
This is perhaps the most exciting reason for Randy Orton to beat Edge. As mentioned, we don't expect Edge to return until summertime at the very least, and we can't even be sure about that since we don't know how serious his alleged triceps injury was.
However, Bobby Lashley proved to be an excellent opponent for Drew McIntyre. He was made to look strong and was even protected in defeat as it was a distraction from Lana that ended up costing him the WWE Championship.
While he could make a case for a rematch against McIntyre, we would much rather see him go on a tear and squash every other Superstar to lead up to a dream Brock Lesnar match at SummerSlam 2020.
Lashley vs Lesnar at SummerSlam is a better direction. However, Orton vs Drew McIntyre for Extreme Rules would be an incredible match as well. Hopefully, he's back in the hunt for gold.
